Since 1994, Deer Run Hay Company has been growing & offering premium hay/straw to the local community. Kit and his father, Peter started out on a 63 acre horse farm in Freehold, NJ and grew horse quality hay. In 2006, they purchased a 168 acre preserved farm in Flemington, NJ. Today they farm several local parcels in Somerset County and Hunterdon County, roughly 1,000 acres.
Over the years, we have focused on bringing more efficiencies & automation into our hay operation while using sustainable farm practices. We strive to diversify our products into every type of hay market possible, such as animal feed, landscaping, mushrooms farms, storm water management, environmental remediation, fall decor, and weddings/parties. Focusing on Hay, Straw, Baleage, & Mulch Hay has allowed us to supply the community with top quality products & forages.
In 2022, we started raising miniature Highland & HighPark cattle on the farm as well. It’s been such an exciting opportunity as we care for our animals with our own hay & straw.
